Hurston/Wright Writers’ Week 2008
Greetings Family,
I’m sure you guys are noticing a trend over the last few posts, but with summer right around the corner its a great time to start planning when and how to attend the numerous events that honor & promote African American books & writers. This next event that I want to talk about is being presented by The Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright Foundation. The Hurston/Wright Foundation is a national resource center for writers, readers, & supporters of African American Literature.
They will be conducting workshops for writers of memoirs, poetry, and novels in addition to holding a creative writing class for high school students at American University, July 20th through the 26th in Washington DC. This Hurston/Wright Writers Week has helped produce numerous published authors ranging from Carol Parrott Blue writer of The Dawn at My Back, published though the University of Texas Press to Patricia Elam author of Breathing Room who was published with Simon and Schuster.
This looks to be a great opportunity. As I gather more information I will be sure to share it.
